[srfubknnk. His brain carefully starts to pile frustration onto the confusion already present. He’s not sure just yet why this telepathic connection’s been established, but he can tell that it’s not going to just go away.
(He doesn’t like the idea of someone - or something - messing with all of them like this...)]
And for what reason do you wish to see me? You said that you were not looking to add on to your team, and yet...
[(obviously, simply caring about people’s well being isn’t a real thing.)]
[ He doesn't need emotional effects for his feelings to be blatant when talking to him. What she exudes is comfort and honesty, though she's clearly embarrassed and perhaps slightly baffled by this conversation occurring. ]
Is that the only reason someone might want to see you? I know that you'd rather not be contacted, but I found myself thinking of you. I suppose that's why my crystal reached out to you, though I'm not sure if that's the reason why. It seems to be occurring all around Verens lately...
[ Oh, no, I'm over-explaining. I hope it is not bothering him. It comes without her awareness, as the initial commentary did. ]
I hope that you're doing well! And I was wondering if, perhaps, you might like to meet the rest of my team? I've made some pokepuffs at the behest of Lucario and ah, do you drink coffee? Or tea? I can make whatever you'd like.
[Unfortunately, it's easy to bother Mewtwo, especially when you're a strange trainer who's managed to intimidate him. It really is hard for him to imagine someone just trying to make friends with him – not without an ulterior motive of some sort. Almost all of the humans he's known have had one. So his thoughts slip through to whisper, somewhat frantically, she is lying. She wants something out of me. She is dangerous.]
Why - [He's struggling to figure this conversation out, and he doesn't like that neither of them seem to be able to control what they send to each other.] Why would you invite me to have tea with you? Why would you ask me to meet your companions? If not to collect me – then why?!
[(It's also easy for Mewtwo to get angry. It's the only defense mechanism he's ever had.)]
[ The thought that slips through makes her upset, though she tries not to let that be obvious. The words he actually speaks manages to have that crack. She sounds hurt by the accusation and perhaps a touch angry. ]
I do not collect my family for one. Do not mistake me for that sort of trainer. Secondly, you know as well as I that one can only capture a pokemon with their permission -- and again, I do not wish to do so. I introduce everyone to my team because they are all that I have had for a very long time. I love my team. If you would rather meet somewhere neutral without them present, I understand, but I only thought... [ I thought it would be nice. More quietly, she continues. ] Is... is it really so strange to seek out your friendship? To want to know you with that being the only goal in mind?
[ It must be terrible if it is. He's been treated so unjustly. I wish I could do something. She wants to crush whatever remains of Team Rocket for this, for hurting him so. ]
[Now she's angry, too. It actually makes him relent, if only a little; at least he can empathize with that.
There are good trainers out there, it's true, trainers who do think of their Pokemon as family.....but how can he know that she is one of them? He can't, except by taking her word for it. He's not certain he's prepared to fully accept that - but -
He responds slowly, aggression more restrained. The hissy cat is still very cautious, but maybe creeping the tiniest bit closer to coming out from under the bed. Maybe.]
Very few humans have offered me kindness without demanding something in return. [One, in total, he doesn't meant to add. Actually two but he doesn't remember the first shhhh At least the feeling he's getting from her isn't pity. He's too proud for that.]
[ She can't even imagine what he's been through. She knows that legendary and mythical pokemon all deal with their own issues. In particular, the way people treat them. If not awe and wonderment then they desire them as a prize. She supposed she understood it, but not entirely. ]
I asked. I did not demand for your company. I'll meet you wherever you'd like. We could walk through the city and talk, even.
[ Anabel doesn't seem to find the idea strange at all. ]
[The idea is immediately met with a dismissive - though not rude - feeling.]
I do not like the city. I do not trust its inhabitants. [At least he's certain about that. (It's not paranoia if everyone really is out to get you, right?)
But his hackles are still up regarding her. She still can't be trusted, not yet. But for all he thinks that he's right, he also knows that there's an advantage to making personal connections...and that it is still possible, yes, that she could be one of the better humans...
This is a bad idea. But it sounds more like a sigh than a certainty.]
I understand. I was worried that people would mistake pokemon for the monsters of this world and attack them for some time.
[ Perhaps he hadn't meant it that way, but she doesn't comment further on it. If he wants to tell her why she'll listen, but it's rude to pry.
There's more a feeling in response than words; something soothing and reassuring. Like the scent of rain on a warm day or a soft breeze. ]
Accompanying me in this place I have Raikou, Salamence, Lucario, Mismagius, Weavile, and Entei. More recently the Arehtei have allowed me to bring in Latios; he's still a little shaken, so he's been sticking beside me. The remainder of my family remains back home -- Snorlax and Alakazam. I miss them quite terribly.
[ It's very clear in her voice that she does. A tremble of upset while she thinks on being here nearly a year without them. ]
FAIR ENOUGH
